Get ready to see a big India pavilion if you are planning to attend the World Petroleum Congress in Madrid from June 29 to July 3.

PETROWATCH learns the oil ministry has directed all state-owned companies to showcase “the Indian oil and gas storyâ€‌. Early last month joint secretary exploration AK Jain chaired a meeting of IOC, ONGC, Oil India, GAIL, BPCL, HPCL, the DGH and Engineers India to review preparations for Madrid.

Jain stressed that Indian participation had to be in a “big wayâ€‌ and not just limited to attending the conference, as in the past. This report hears the Indian pavilion will be set up in Hall No.

7 as a single story stand with a banyan tree constructed from steel, acrylic and fabric. “Conference organisers have agreed to have an India session for one hour either on July 2 or July 3,â€‌ industry body Petrofed confirms.

“Once that is firmed up the chairmen of all the companies participating must be present for the question and answer session.â€‌
