Shell rejects as "pure speculation" reports that it is talking to the Indian government about acquiring a stake in the Dahej LNG terminal promoted by Petronet-LNG.

Poten & Partners, a US-based energy consultancy, reports in its May issue that, "(Indian) Government officials have encouraged Shell to take a role in the Dahej terminal" and that, "Some preliminary discussions have taken place between Petronet and the Anglo-Dutch major along these lines." On 8th June the government granted Foreign Investment Promotion Board clearance for Shell's rival terminal at Hazira. "Shell is not talking to the government about Dahej," it is reliably learnt.
