Shell-ONGC workshop shifts to Ahmedabad

Vol 9, PW 24 (23 Mar 06) News in Brief

Shell and ONGC have shifted the location of a proposed internal workshop from Mumbai to Ahmedabad.

Also changed are the dates of the workshop from 15th and 16th March to 22nd and 23rd March. They tried very hard to book a hotel in Mumbai for those dates but nothing was available, we are told.

Eventually it was mutually decided to shift the workshop to Ahmedabad. At Ahmedabad the workshop will be held in ONGCs Institute of Reservoir Studies.

Discussion at the seminar will focus on improved and enhanced oil recovery techniques. Shell suggested the meeting in line with its wide-ranging MoU signed with ONGC in Delhi on 19th January.

ONGC is carrying out IOR and EOR programmes at 15 of its mature and ageing fields, including Mumbai High. Shell is believed to be willing to part with its IOR and EOR expertise in exchange for an interest in ONGCs existing and producing acreage particularly Heera, a producing field offshore Mumbai.

This is the first time ONGC is holding such an event with a major oil company.
