Oceantex 2006 draws to a close in Mumbai

Indias first oil and gas conference for 2006 is underway in Mumbai.

Attended by more than 100 companies from 16 countries, the four-day Oceantex 2006 ends on 14th January. Organiser Jasubhai Shah said the event is focusing on Indias energy security.

About a dozen companies the largest single contingent are from Norway, which wants to reverse its indifference to Indias upstream sector. On 11th January, former oil secretary Sushil Tripathi presented the Oceantex 2006 awards.

Oil India CMD RK Dutta received the lifetime achievement award while ONGC CMD Subir Raha the business leader of the year award. Larsen & Toubro CMD AM Naik was given the emerging global company award.

Cairn Energys India chief Lawrence Smyth, GSPC MD DJ Pandian, Hindustan Petroleum CMD MB Lal and Aker Kvaerner Powergas MD Pothen Paul were among those who received awards for outstanding achievement.
