Service contracts from ONGC for 19 marginal fields

Vol 6, PW 19 (20 Nov 02) Exploration & Production

LOG ON TO ONGC's website later this month for tenders seeking Expressions of Interest from private Indian companies to enter into service contracts to develop 19 of its idle marginal fields.

"We are currently working on the tender documents," ONGC tells us. When companies respond with EOIs, expect a pre-bid conference in December, followed by the opening of a dataroom in Mumbai.

ONGC wants to receive bids in February, evaluate them a month later and award contracts by May or June. As we reported in an earlier issue, selected companies will sign profit-sharing arrangements with ONGC, but will be denied equity participation.
