A delegation from Malaysian oil major Petronas led by its President and chief executive Tan Sri Dato Mohd Hassan Marican is in India to renew contacts with Indian public sector oil companies.

The delegation arrived in India a week before the 5th Indian Oil and Gas Conference, which began on 12th January in Delhi. Marican met Indian Oil chairman MS Ramachandran in Delhi and played golf with Bharat Petroleum chairman Sarthak Behuria at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club in Mumbai.

The delegation also met Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani in Mumbai. They are trying to sell feedstock for petrochemicals to Reliance for the last two years but the Ambanis dont seem to be interested, said a BPCL source.

However, the Petronas officials were unable to meet oil minister Ram Naik and secretary BK Chaturvedi because of a mismatch in their schedules.
