Petronet-LNG wants to build fourth storage tank at Dahej

Vol 7, PW 26 (24 Mar 04) News in Brief

Petronet-LNG will eventually have four LNG storage tanks at Dahej.

PETROWATCH learns Petronet-LNG management has asked the Gujarat Maritime Board for a patch of land adjoining its Dahej terminal to construct a fourth tank. Currently, Petronet-LNG has two LNG storage tanks.

A third tank is planned under plans to double Dahej capacity to 10m t/y. The detailed feasibility report (to double capacity) will be ready within the next fortnight, reveals a source.

Petronet-LNG believes it will need to spend Rs750cr ($156m) to expand Dahej capacity to 10m t/y. If board approval comes by April, construction work on the third tank is scheduled to begin in July.

Very soon Petronet-LNG will also require two more LNG tankers. We might order two more tankers or might buy LNG CIF, says a source.

At present Petronet-LNG has one LNG tanker, Disha. One more will be ready by December 2004.
