Four companies are competing in ONGC's tender to hire a minimum 6-streamer vessel to shoot and process 4340-sq km broadband 3D.

By the June 30 deadline, bids were submitted by CGGVeritas, WesternGeco, PGS and Dolphin Geophysical UK. CGG, WesternGeco and PGS were on ONGC's list of prequalified contractors but Dolphin, Polarcus, China Oilfield Services and Sovcomflot also sent in prequalification documents by June 3, hoping to bid.

ONGC sent tender documents only to Dolphin, indicating the other three were disqualified. ONGC is expected to award the contract(s) by September so acquisition can begin by November and be completed by May 15, 2017.

ONGC wants 1186-sq km shot over the offshore Mumbai B-157 field in water depths of 35 to 60 metres; 1780-sq km over south and south west of Mumbai High in water depths of 70 to 85 metres; 1005-sq km over the offshore Mumbai Ratna and R-Series fields in water depths of 40 to 70 metres; and 370-sq km over the eastern offshore GS-29 field.
