Mundra PMC deadline

Vol 15, PW 21 (03 May 12) News in Brief

Foster Wheeler, Engineers India, Whessoe Oil & Gas and Tractebel are among several companies expected to submit bids by May 15 to become the Project Management Consultant for the proposed Mundra LNG terminal, promoted by GSPC and the Adani Group.

GSPC sold bid documents for the 5m t/y terminal project between February 27 and March 21, but postponed its original April 9 deadline to accommodate bidders from the US and Europe who were on holiday during the long Easter weekend. GSPC wants the PMC to issue tenders and manage the construction of all necessary marine facilities, onshore storage tanks and regasification facilities.

A source dismisses speculation that Adani will get the marine facilities construction contract, stressing this part of the project will also be awarded through an open tender. “Adani might have experience setting up jetties,” he adds.

“But other companies have expertise too. The project must go to the most competitive bidder.
