Rajasthan seismic

Vol 15, PW 12 (15 Dec 11) News in Brief

Polish seismic contractor Geofizyka Torun is set to begin shooting 1424-sq km 3D at Rajasthan onland block RJ-ONN-2005/1, jointly operated by HOEC and Bharat Petro Resources (BPRL).

Geofyzika mobilised crew and equipment in May but could not carry out work due to delayed defence ministry clearances, as the block is near the Pakistan border. “Defence ministry officials were objecting to the use of GPS (Global Positioning System) technology,” explains a consortium source.

“Clearances have now come in. Geofizyka could begin shooting 3D any day now.

” Geofizyka could take up to three months to shoot 3D and another six months to process and interpret it. “We’ll issue a tender for a drilling rig only by end-2012,” we learn.

“Drilling locations should be identified by then.” HOEC, BPRL, and IMC (formerly known as Indian Molasses Company) each hold a 25% stake at the block, where Hindustan Petroleum still awaits oil ministry approval of its 25% ‘farm-in.
