B-46 platforms

Vol 15, PW 10 (17 Nov 11) News in Brief

Abu Dhabi-based NPCC is targeting December 1 to begin work for ONGC on the installation of four ‘well-head’ platforms at the B-46 fields offshore Mumbai and two platforms at Mumbai High North.

PETROWATCH learns NPCC will use a single barge to carry out the $220m platform installation contract, which it won in January this year. But NPCC will have to race against time to meet ONGC’s tight schedule to install the B-46 and B-48 platforms in two months from now by end-January 2012; the B-105 and B-188 platforms must be ready by end-February.

More, ONGC wants the N-15 and N-16 Mumbai High platforms ready by March 30 so the entire project is completed by April 15, 2012. NPCC is expected to begin shipping the platforms out from its Abu Dhabi yard this month, transporting them by barge to India’s western offshore.

ONGC aims to produce 4.5bn cubic metres of gas and 1.5m cubic metres of ‘condensate’ from B-46.
