Vol 14, PW 21 (21 Apr 11) News in Brief

Andhra Pradesh state authorities have again extended the bid submission deadline in an EPC tender for its proposed 700-MW gas-fired power station at Karimnagar in the backward Telengana region.

This time, it is from April 20 to May 11. “This is the final extension,” says a source at state-owned power producer APGenco.

“Bidders wanted the deadline extended by another six or eight weeks but we’ve given them only a three-week extension.” APGenco, he adds, previously granted potential bidders a six-week extension to April 20.

Among those expected to submit bids are Tata Projects; Marubeni Heavy Industries; Larsen & Toubro in partnership with Siemens; Alsthom; Nagarjuna Engineering Constructions; BGR Energy Systems; IVRCL Infrastructures & Projects; Megha Engineering & Infrastructures; and Duro Felguera. Andhra Pradesh wants the proposed Karimnagar station commissioned within 36 months of awarding the LoI to an EPC contractor.
