il secretary RS Pandey made an unprecedented visit to ONGC HQ at the Jeevan Bharti building in Connaught Place on September 18.

PETROWATCH learns Pandey scheduled a 3.00pm visit to the sixth floor office of ONGC Chairman RS Sharma to 'review' the status of E&P assets bought by ONGC Videsh. Also on the agenda, were 'strategy' sessions to improve E&P activities at OVL assets.

"This is the first time an oil secretary has come to the ONGC office," says a source. "Usually, such meetings are at Shastri Bhawan.

â€‌ Pandey organised the visit to see if India’s vast state-run petroleum sector can work together, we hear. Among those invited by letter are Indian Oil chairman Sarthak Behuria, BPCL chairman, Ashok Sinha, HPCL chairman Arun Balakrishnan, GAIL chairman UD Choubey and Oil India chairman MR Pasrija.

"Apart from an E&P strategy, the secretary is also expected discuss participation of state oil companies in ONGC Videsh blocks," reports a source.
