Vol 4, PW 11 (05 Jul 00) News in Brief

Oil ministry officials confirm that a three-man committee has been set up to select a consultant to promote the next round of bidding under the New Exploration Licensing Policy (NELP-2).

"In the oil ministry we do everything by committee," said a source, " I sat in five committee meetings today. That is how we work in the oil ministry.

I don't think there is anything extraordinary in this news." Ravi Saxena, a financial joint secretary, Avinash Chandra, director general of the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons and JM Masker, exploration joint secretary, make up the three-man team. Geneva-based Petroconsultants promoted Indias last licensing round.
