NTPC selects Nexant to help it choose LNG supplier

Vol 6, PW 24 (12 Feb 03) News in Brief

Nexant of Britain is National Thermal Power Corporation's choice of consultant for the selection of a LNG supplier for its northern region demand of 3m t/y.

Nexant will help NTPC prepare bid documents. NTPC has also chosen India's Stup Consultants as port consultant for its LNG import requirement.

We learn NTPC has set the last week of March - and not February as planned earlier - to receive 'Request for Proposal' documents from interested suppliers. About 10 companies are in the race for the NTPC contract to supply LNG from 2006-07 for expansion of the Kawas, Gandhar, Anta and Auraiya power stations in western and northern India, among them Petronet-LNG, Reliance, Petronas, TotalFinaElf, BHP Billiton, British Gas and BP.
