Hazarika set to be new ONGC director onshore

Vol 7, PW 26 (24 Mar 04) News in Brief

ONGCs chief of well services AK Hazarika is tipped to become ONGCs new director onshore once the anti-corruption watchdog Central Vigilance Commission clears his name.

We have got positive signals from the CVC about Hazarika, an ONGC director tells PETROWATCH. ONGC has cleared up a misunderstanding with the CVC about a case involving Hazarika that held up his nomination.

Last month Hazarika pleaded his case before the CVC, which is now convinced that he is clean and his name can be forwarded. Last September, the Public Enterprises Selection Board nominated Hazarika as first choice followed by NK Mitra.

ONGC had earlier recommended Hazarika for the post of director offshore to replace outgoing VK Sharma but later changed its mind. Hazarika has almost made it for director onshore so we did not want him to appear for the director offshore interview.
