Our story Ratnam lays off 16 engineers on Vedanta contract published on August 27 (2020) reported that Rajkot-based Ratnam Energy laid off 16 young engineers before they could complete a full year as graduate trainees.

Dharmesh Sudani, admin manager at Ratnam Energy disagrees. "The information published on the portal is wrong and it is far away from the facts and figures," he says.

Sudani claims there is no requirement of 16 engineers on any workover rig. One engineer is required per shift.

He adds: "We have not laid off anyone. They might have left the company due to their personal reasons.

We don't believe in firing our personnel after completion of a project so how can we fire them in an ongoing project?" According to Sudani, Ratnam has no workover service at Barmer. "We are providing rod running services to Vedanta, not workover rig services."

He said Ratnam also provides workover services to ONGC Ahmedabad and EOGEPL Durgapur along with drilling and workover rig services to Reliance's Shahdol CBM block.
