BPRL public hearing for 4-well OALP campaign

Vol 22, PW 24 (19 Sep 19) Exploration & Production

BPCL upstream arm Bharat PetroResources (BPRL) is poised to hire a 1000-hp rig for OALP-1 block CB-ONHP-2017/9 following success at its nearby Pasunia discovery block where production is expected from December this year (2019).

This report learns the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has scheduled a public hearing at the Primary Teachers Association in Mehmdabad town in Gujarat on October 5 at 12 noon to clear BPRL's estimated Rs84cr ($12m) five-well exploration campaign at the 174-sq km block. The following drilling sites in Kheda district have been identified: well N1 at Godhali village (22°51'21.16"N, 72°46'27.17"E); well N2 at Sojali village (22°50'20.90"N, 72°46'27.30"E); well N3 at Rinchol village (22°51'21.80"N, 72°49'22.50"E); well N4 at Mehmdabad town (22°48'44.30"N, 72°45'58.21"E) and well S2 at Arera village (22°45'28.90"N, 72°50'10.40"E).

BPRL estimates each well will take 45 days to drill to 1800-2000 metres TD. For each well BPRL is planning to temporarily lease a 1.8 hectare area to construct well-pads and drill-sites.

Operator BPRL presently holds 100% in the block but ONGC is poised to take a 40% stake. "We signed the farm-out agreement with ONGC on February 20 this year," BPRL tells us.

"Once formalities are completed BPRL will be operator with 60%." Exploration block CB-ONHP-2017/9 lies 4.5-km south of BPRL’s promising Pasunia NELP-IX discovery block CB-ONN-2010/8 where wells Pasunia#01 (PA#01) and Pasunia#02 (PA#02) are being converted to producers through re-entry and perforation to pump out an estimated 400 b/d.
