Vol 22, PW 6 (10 Jan 19) News in Brief

Petronet-LNG has begun the search for a new director technical to replace Rajender Singh who retires on July 19 aged 60.

"There are only three internal candidates (in Petronet-LNG) with the rank of vice president who are eligible to apply," confirms a company source. "Pushp Khetrapal (president business development) and Rajeev Agarwal (president projects) can't apply because of their age."

When published the advertisement for the director technical posts clearly stated the minimum age of the candidate should be 48 and maximum 57 years on the date of vacancy (July 20, 2019). According to Petronet-LNG's annual report for 2017-2018, Khetrapal is 58; Agarwal is 57.

Sources in Petronet-LNG expect that candidates from promoter companies: ONGC, Bharat Petroleum, GAIL and IndianOil will apply in strength. "Whoever wants the job will need the support of (managing director) Prabhat Singh and Manoj Pawa (senior VP human resources and business engineering)," quips a second source.

Petronet-LNG's director technical position comes with a salary of close to Rs1cr/annum ($140,000); the company advertised the post on its website and in newspapers on December 19 (2018) and accepted CVs until January 8.
