Big names lined up for PETROTECH-2016

Vol 20, PW 6 (01 Dec 16) News in Brief

PETROTECH-2016 in Delhi on December 5, 6 and 7 will see an impressive line-up of overseas energy ministers.

Most prominent of the 16 confirmed is Mohammed Saleh Al Sada, OPEC president and energy minister of Qatar - which supplies 56% of India's LNG. With Al Sada will be fellow OPEC minister Khalid Al-Falih of Saudi Arabia - keen to reverse his country's relegation to second place as India's biggest crude supplier.

In May, Iraq overtook Saudi to supply 960,000 b/d to India against 788,000 b/d from Saudi - whose share of Indian crude imports has dropped from 25% to 18%. No doubt Khalid Al-Falih will be avoiding Iraq's energy minister Fayadh Hassan Nima who is also coming.

Other confirmed OPEC ministers are Venezuela's Eulogio Del Pino, Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei of UAE and Nigeria's Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu. Also confirmed are countries where OVL has pumped in huge upstream investment: Alexander Novak from Russia, Mohammed Zayed Awad from Sudan and Nasrul Hamid from Bangladesh.

Ashit Kumar Gungah and Yiorgos Lakkotrypis from tax havens Mauritius and Cyprus will also be there.
