Expansion on next IOC chairman Singh's mind

IndianOil director (refineries) Sanjiv Singh has already decided that he will focus on expanding the capacities of the company's Barauni, Panipat and Paradip refineries once he takes over as company chairman.

Singh mentioned these plans on October 3 to journalists at a press event called to announce the launch of Petrotech 2016 between December 5 and 7, India's foremost oil and gas conference event. Singh, 56, was selected on September 23 by the PESB to replace current chairman B.

Ashok when he retires on May 31, 2017."(Oil India HR director) Biswajit Roy gave Singh strong competition," says an IOC source. "But Singh has a lot more experience and is also the only director on the IOC Board with more than two years before retirement." Singh is credited with commissioning the much-delayed Paradip refinery in oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan's home state Orissa.

"Besides refinery experience," says a source, "Singh also has good exposure to the marketing and finance departments at IOC." Six other candidates also attended interviews.
