Vol 16, PW 17 (21 Mar 13) News in Brief

Petronet-LNG issued tenders to seven pre-qualified EPC contractors this month (March) for contracts to complete the multi-million dollar expansion of its 10m t/y LNG terminal at Dahej to 15m t/y.

Tender documents for the construction of regasification facilities were sent to Toyo Engineering, Technip, IHI, Samsung Engineering, CTCI, a consortium of L&T along with Tecnicas Reunidas and Techint along with Ruia-controlled Essar Group. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for March 28 and bids for the Rs1200cr ($240m) tender must be submitted by end-April, though many suspect this deadline will be extended to May on bidders’ requests.

Toyo Engineering, Technip and CTCI are expected to bid aggressively. Last month (February) Petronet-LNG issued tenders for the construction of two 160,000 cubic metre capacity tanks to IHI of Japan; a consortium of French company Enterprose and CTCI of Taiwan; Samsung Engineering of South Korea and Tecnicas Reunidas with L&T.
