ONGC Kutch 3D

Vol 14, PW 7 (23 Sep 10) News in Brief

ONGC was surprised to receive just two bids by the September 17 deadline in a tender to shoot 3D across Gujarat Kutch basin offshore NELP-VIII blocks GK-OSN-2009/1 and GK-OSN-2009/2.

PETROWATCH learns Hind Offshore has offered Fugro-owned survey vessel Geo Natuna while CGGVeritas has offered Veritas Voyager. “This (poor response),” says an industry source, “probably indicates that vessels are not readily available in the region.

” Hind Offshore, as an Indian contractor, will get a 10% price advantage. ONGC wants 910-sq km of 3D shot at GK-OSN-2009/1 and 956-sq km 3D at GK-OSN-2009/2.

It could take about a month to evaluate the bids and is expected to award the contract sometime mid-October so work can begin right away and be completed before the next monsoon season, expected in May 2011. Besides Hind Offshore and CGGVeritas, PGS, Bergen Offshore, Western Geco and Polarcus also attended the August 13 pre-bid in Mumbai.
