Ravva producing 50,000 b/d

Vol 2, PW 23 (09 Dec 98) News in Brief

Ravva oilfield - operated by Cairn Energy in an alliance with Videocon Petroleum, Marubeni and ONGC - resumed production on 28 November.

Cairn Energy tells this report the Indian government has allowed it to increase production from 35,000 b/d to 50,000 b/d level in order to recover losses incurred during the shut down. Ravva - located on the Andhra Pradesh coast - stopped production on 10 August following damage to a Single Buoy Mooring.

The government has permitted Cairn to produce at 50,000 b/d until March 1999. Cairn continues efforts to try to persuade Indias DGH to let it produce at this level beyond 1999.
