Greatship in Brazil

Vol 14, PW 15 (27 Jan 11) News in Brief

Mumbai-based marine logistics provider Greatship is preparing to deploy two Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) support vessels to Brazil later this year, as it diversifies operations outside India.

Late last year Greatship set up two overseas subsidiaries, one in Singapore and one in Australia, to explore new business opportunities in hitherto untapped niche areas such as subsea construction and decommissioning support, inspection maintenance and repair, geotechnical and geophysical services, and well construction. Two newly-built Multi-purpose Support Vessels (MSV) and two ROV support vessels have already joined the fleet.

One of these ROV vessels is today working for BHP and Petronas offshore Malaysia. Two newly-built anchor handling vessels, another two newly-built MSVs and an additional newly-built ROV support vessel are expected to join Greatship’s fleet later this year.

Greatship operates two jack-ups, Chitra and Chetna, both with ONGC. It operates four platform support vessels and seven anchor handling vessels.
