Bharali new OIL director

Vol 13, PW 20 (25 Mar 10) News in Brief

Nripen Bharali will take over as director human resources and business development at Oil India when Ashok Anand steps down on April 30.

As widely anticipated, Bharali was ranked first when the Public Enterprises Selection Board interviewed 35 short-listed candidates on March 11 and 12. SK Acharya, general manager at state-owned power generation company NTPC came second.

“Bharali supported NM Borah when he ran for chairman,â€‌ said an Oil India source. “Borah has returned the favour.

â€‌ Before assuming his current post of general manager, human resources and business development at Oil India’s corporate office in Noida in January last year, Bharali was an oil production general manager at the company HQ in Duliajan. Many believe Borah brought Bharali to Delhi so he could gain exposure and apply for the director post.

Several company insiders are already predicting that Bharali might take over as chairman when Borah steps down on April 30, 2012.
