Reliance refinery link to GSPL gas grid

Reliance’s nearly complete brand new 27m t/y refinery at Jamnagar can now get gas through Gujarat State Petronet’s pipeline gas grid.

PETROWATCH learns the GSPL metering station outside the refinery boundary was completed on August 15. “If Reliance wants to bring gas to the refinery from tomorrow, it can do so,â€‌ a senior GSPL official says.

Original plans to commission the pipeline by end-June were delayed to July 10 and then to August 10 and finally to August 15, ostensibly to mark India’s Independence Day. Reliance has contracted GSPL to transport gas by pipeline from Bharuch to Jamnagar.

GSPL laid the pipeline in two separate stretches: from Bhadbhut in Bharuch district to Ghana near Anand (108-km) and from Rajkot to Jamnagar (102-km). Reliance’s cross-country, east-west gas transmission pipeline from D6 joins GSPL’s gas grid at Bharuch.

GSPL’s Bharuch to Jamnagar pipeline can carry 11m cm/d gas but it is unclear when Reliance will begin using it.
