Narad takes over as PESB chairman

Candidates applying for senior management level jobs in public sector oil and gas companies can look forward to a familiar face during future interviews.

Naresh Narad, 64, who joined the IAS from Madhya Pradesh in 1968 started as chairman of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on July 1. “I will be chairman for one year,â€‌ Narad confirms to this report.

“The retirement age of a PESB chairman is 65.â€‌ Narad held the posts of additional secretary and special secretary in the oil ministry for three and half years from 1999 to 2002.

He said during that stint, the dismantling of the APM (Administered Pricing Mechanism) for refined petroleum products in March 2002 was a key event. “I was special secretary at that time,â€‌ he adds.

“No secretary was there. (Vijayendra) Kaul had left to join CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General) and (BK) Chaturvedi was yet to join.

â€‌ No senior oil and gas company jobs are expected for review during Narad’s tenure.
