GAIL issued a global tender on 18th October inviting bids to lay the controversial Dahej to Uran gas pipeline for regassified LNG.

Tractebel Engineering of Belgium is the project management consultant. Tender documents will be on sale from (Thursday) 20th October to 1st December and bids must be submitted on 2nd December in Delhi.

Bidders can seek clarifications at the pre-bid meeting on 9th November. The 483-km pipeline will run from Petronet-LNGs Dahej LNG terminal to Uran in Maharashtra, via Shells LNG terminal at Hazira, for transportation of regassified LNG to consumers in the states and Gujarat and Maharashtra as part of the National Gas Grid.

GAIL said the pipeline would be of 30-inch diameter for 395-km reducing to 24-inches diameter for 72-km and eventually to 18-inches for 16-km. The pipeline should be laid within 11 months after which the contractor will get one and a half months for commissioning and gas-in.
