Clampdown on overseas trips by ONGC directors

Vol 3, PW 18 (29 Sep 99) News in Brief

Chairman Bikash Bora of ONGC has circulated a sharp warning to all ONGC directors asking them to curtail their foreign trips and those of senior executives at ONGC.

In a letter to the company's directors dated 7th September this year Bora said "strict control" was needed on foreign visits undertaken for training conferences and oil and gas seminars, "especially in view of the resource crunch being faced by the country". Bora added: "Directors are requested to kindly ensure that foreign visits by our executives are strictly restricted and proposals for such trips may be put up to me for approval only in those cases where it is absolutely necessary for meeting operational requirements."
