Kenneth Lay of Enron visits India this month

Kenneth Lay, high profile chairman of Enron, is expected in India later this month for talks with officials in Maharashtra and Delhi.

Confirmation of Lay's visit comes from Madhav Godbole, chairman of a special panel set up to negotiate with the Enron-owned Dabhol Power Company. On 30th June Godbole told local newspapers that Enron India managing director Wade Cline said Lay would arrive in the second week of July.

Godbole adds that up to seven Indian states are interested in buying power from Dabhol and that his committee would be meeting representatives from these states in Mumbai on 26th July. The next round of talks with DPC is on 27th July.
