Vol 5, PW 19 (07 Nov 01) News in Brief

Enron might have burnt its hands at Dabhol and TotalFinaElf might have beaten a hasty retreat at Trombay, but this did not deter upbeat Gaz de France from teaming up with GAIL to co-host the "first Indo-French LNG conference" in New Delhi on 1st November.

Oil minister Ram Naik, the French ambassador to India and Gaz de France managing director J. Deyirmendjian set the ball rolling at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

Representatives from Indian Oil, Petronet-LNG, GAIL, TotalFinaElf, Electricite de France, Alstom Power, Gaztransport & Technigaz and France's Directorate of Raw Material and Hydrocarbon read technical papers.
