DGH launches EOR consultation

Vol 20, PW 15 (20 Apr 17) News in Brief

Whether anyone will respond in such a short time is open to question but no one can accuse the DGH of not trying.

This week (April 19) the upstream regulator kicked off a government-backed consultation process on Enhanced and Improved Oil Recovery technologies with an invitation on its website for suggestions and advice on how to encourage its use both financially and technically. In its notice the DGH stresses it's on the look-out for 'global best practice' in the methodology and execution of EOR techniques, financial incentives to promote its use and the parameters of its use in mature oil and gasfields of which India can claim several hundred.

ONGC sources at the Institute of Reservoir Studies welcome the DGH's move and point to Cairn India's successful EOR programme at Mangala with a Central Polymer Facility that has helped the company raise production by 13,000 b/d. Anyone with, "views, opinions or literature" on EOR techniques has until April 25 to contribute suggestions by sending the DGH a mail to eorpolicy@gmail.com or calling DGH officer Sudhir Kumar on +91 96504 00 350.
