Oil India has extended the bid deadline in a 1000-hp rig tender for its Baghewala and Dandewala fields in the Jaisalmer PML in Rajasthan.

After making amendments to the tender on August 1, Oil India pushed back the bid deadline from August 9 to August 30. When contacted an Oil India source said: "Certain amendments were carried out in the hiring criteria of the rig.

We did this after talks with drillers at the July 14 pre-bid." But he refused to divulge details. Oil India is offering a one year contract with an option to extend it by six months.

Seven companies attended Oil India's pre-bid in Jodhpur on July 14 for the 1000-hp rig tender: JayBee Energy, Quippo Oil and Gas, John Energy, Essar Oilfield, Arihants, Rasson and a relatively unknown company called South Asian. Oil India is planning a 20-well development campaign at the 210-sq km Baghewala heavy oilfield.

"The environment ministry cleared our proposal on July 11," we hear. "Soon it will be announced officially."
