ONGC has set aside Rs1080cr ($158m) for its Tripura asset with 34 new development wells planned and the conversion of 19 exploration wells into development wells.

"This will begin late this year or early next year when approvals are in place," confirms an ONGC source. "We will deploy our own rigs and hire rigs." In a 14-page June 20 pre-feasibility report ONGC adds it will increase gas handling capacity of its Agartala Dome collecting station from 2.2m cm/d to 2.71m cm/d, construct two pipeline manifolds and set up flowlines and a gas grid to connect wells.

ONGC has targeted development drilling at the Agartala Dome, Kunjaban, Konaban, Manikyanagar, Sonamura, Sundalbari and Tichna fields. Seven of the 19 exploration wells to be converted are at the Konaban field; four at Agartala Dome PML; two each at the Agartala Dome Ext-II, Agartala Dome AD4 and Kunjaban fields and one each at Manikyanagar-Sonamura and Tichna.

About 185-km of gas feeder pipelines with diameters ranging from 6-inches to 20-inches will also be set up.
