GAIL to spud Cambay second well by July

Hopes are high that GAIL will get lucky when it spuds its second well Nabhoi-C by early July under its Rs160cr ($24m) eight-well campaign at prospective onshore Cambay block CB-ONN-2010/11.

Nearby is ONGC's producing Nawagam field not to mention BPRL's CB-ONN-2010/8 block where it struck oil from a 2-metre column at its maiden well Pasunia-1 spud on February 27. Nabhoi-C will target sandstone formations at 2000 to 3000 metres, about 2.6-km away from Dugari village in Anand district where the first well Dugari#1 was drilled by John Energy's 1000-hp rig John#27 to 2583 metres TD by May 6, "We are expecting oil and gas traces while logging well formations at Dugari#1," says a source.

"Mud logging indications are encouraging." Jindal Drilling carried out mud logging while Halliburton did cementing at Dugari#1 spud on March 27. Schlumberger also carried out well logging during drilling and is results next month (June).
