Narendra Modi on April 28 confirmed the appointment of GK Satish as IndianOil's next director planning and business development to replace Debasis Sen who retires on August 31.

"It's good news," says an IOC source. "Satish must be relieved.

His file was clean. These days, there is a lot of uncertainty till the actual appointment happens for high level posts such as directors and chairmen at state-owned companies." Satish beat nine other candidates who sat for interviews on January 4, 2016: IOC executive directors TS Khwaja, RK Mittal, BS Giridhar, DLN Shastri, S.

Majumdar and AK Verma; GAIL executive director ES Ranganathan; NALCO general manager RN Mohapatra; and railway officer MR Kumar. Another IOC source adds that the director planning and business development is an important role managing the company's interests in LNG, E&P, petrochemicals, renewable energy sources and sustainable development.

Satish is ED of IndianOil's gas business.
