Oil India seismic hopes in Myanmar

Vol 19, PW 14 (24 Mar 16) News in Brief

Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi's party is set to form Myanmar's new government and it's looking like a great time to be in the country.

No wonder contractors remain eternally optimistic that Oil India will soon issue a seismic tender to shoot 1460-lkm 2D over Block M4 and 640-sq km 3D over Block YEB. "We believe the tender should be issued (to pre-qualified bidders) by end-April," one contractor tells us.

"Oil India sent us queries on March 4 on the EoIs we submitted with a March 7 deadline to respond. This was the third set of queries.

Most were routine." Another contractor says some were worried Oil India wasn't serious because it had done little since receiving EoIs in July 2015 from companies including CGGVeritas, WesternGeco, Polarcus, Sovcomflot, Hind Geophysical, SMNG, MAGE, DMNG, and China's BGP. Oil India signed PSCs for both blocks on December 4, 2014.
