ONGC extends 18-vessel deadline

Vol 19, PW 8 (17 Dec 15) News in Brief

ONGC has extended the bid submission deadline in its tender to hire 18 vessels for five years from December 11 to December 22, reportedly after receiving a request from state-owned Shipping Corporation of India (SCI).

“ONGC couldn’t refuse SCI’s request,” says a likely bidder. Others say the extended deadline will benefit ONGC in the long term as more bidders join the race – they can buy tender documents until one hour before the deadline.

ONGC wants 11 anchor handling tugs (AHTS) - each of 80-tonne bollard-pull capacity - and seven platform supply vessels (PSVs). This tender was called to replace or rehire vessels whose three-year contracts end between January 31, 2016 and June 26, 2016.

Expect new operators from the Middle East and Southeast Asia to join current operators GOL Offshore, Greatship, SCI, Sadhav Shipping, Samson Maritime, Hind Offshore and TAG Offshore.
