Reliance drilling ultra deep well

Vol 16, PW 25 (11 Jul 13) News in Brief

Reliance and BP will be watching anxiously as drillship DD-KG2 nears TD of 6250 metres at ultra deepwater well CY3D5S1 at CY-PR-DWN-2001/3.

Spud on June 14, drilling in water depths of 1740 metres had by last week reached 4800 metres. In April 2011 Reliance announced a gas and condensate discovery at exploration well Dhirubhai 53.

Appraisal well CYC-D6 FA West was later drilled in January 2013 in water depths of 875 metres. Reliance, we hear, is drilling this latest exploration well CY3D5S1 to test potentially exciting prospects in different Cretaceous structures.

When the PSC was signed on February 4, 2003, Reliance committed to shoot 2100-lkm 2D in Phase-I. In Phase-II, it committed to shoot 1020-sq km 3D and drill four wells.

CY-PR-DWN-2001/3 is among 11 blocks Reliance shares with BP, which holds 30%.
