Expect fresh ONGC Mehsana pipeline tender

ONGC is preparing to issue a fresh tender for a stalled onshore pipeline replacement project at Mehsana in Gujarat, more than a year after last receiving bids.

“We will be re-tendering soon,” confirms an ONGC source. “Look out for our advertisement.

” ONGC wants to replace seven crude oil pipelines between Mehsana and Nawagam in Gujarat with diameters ranging from 8-inches to 18-inches over a total distance of 150-km. “There will be no change in the technical specifications in the new tender,” says ONGC.

Last year Essar Projects, Kalpataru, KazStroy Service Infrastructure and Ace Pipeline Contracts were among eight companies to bid by the February 24, 2012 deadline. ONGC did not open bids, instead e-mailed all companies in December (2012) to announce the tender had stalled.

A week later ONGC returned the bank guarantees. Our ONGC source declines to reveal why the project stalled.

“There were internal problems,” he says.
