Petronet-LNG hired Japanese EPC contractor Toyo Engineering on July 31 to complete topsides for the second jetty at Dahej, where capacity is being expanded from 10m t/y to 15m t/y.

Toyo quoted Rs222cr ($44.4m) to win against Taiwan’s CTCI with Rs223cr ($44.6m) and AFCONS with Rs250cr ($50m). Petronet-LNG initially awarded the topsides job to IndianOilTanking and German partner TGE Gas Engineering in 2010, but they failed to deliver within 18 months.

“They completed 80% of engineering but fell behind with procurement,” we hear. “Petronet-LNG scrapped the contract in June and issued a limited tender in July to Toyo, CTCI and AFCONS, giving them all two weeks to bid.

” Toyo has 16 months to install two LNG unloading arms; lay two 32-inch diameter (roughly) 2-km cryogenic pipelines to storage tanks; lay a vapour return line to the LNG tanker; and construct a control station, sub-station and distributed control system integration facility.
